Escalation Hunter
The escalation-hunter is a cross-cutting analyst agent that runs after WSTG specialists complete their testing. It examines all findings across the session to identify chained vulnerabilities, escalate impact, and construct new attack paths that individual specialists would miss.
Overview
| Property | Value |
|---|---|
| Agent ID | escalation-hunter |
| Role | analyst |
| Domain | @cyberstrike-io/web |
| Runs After | WSTG specialist testing completes |
What It Does
Individual WSTG specialists test endpoints in isolation — each focuses on its own category. The escalation-hunter crosses all lanes to find:
- Chained vulnerabilities — combining a low-severity IDOR with a session fixation to achieve account takeover
- Impact escalation — a medium-severity finding that becomes critical when combined with another
- New attack paths — sequences of requests that, when replayed in order, produce a higher-impact result
- Cross-role escalation — privilege boundaries that break when findings from different specialists are combined
How It Works
- Reads all findings from the session (across all WSTG specialists)
- Reads accumulated Vortex data (traffic patterns, rule matches, objects, functions)
- Identifies correlation opportunities between findings
- Constructs and replays proposed attack chains to verify them
- Reports verified escalations as new findings with composite evidence
The escalation-hunter never takes a specialist’s word for it — it verifies proposed chains by replaying the actual HTTP sequence.
Example
Specialist A: IDOR in GET /api/users/{id} (medium)Specialist B: Missing rate limit on /api/auth/reset (low)Specialist C: Email parameter in reset response body (info)
Escalation Hunter: Chain: enumerate user IDs via IDOR → trigger password reset for each → extract reset tokens from response → account takeover Verified: replayed 3-step chain → confirmed ATO Escalated: Critical (was medium + low + info individually)Info
The escalation-hunter is dispatched automatically — you don’t invoke it directly. It runs as a final analysis pass after the WSTG pipeline completes.
